Your Japanese Guides
Practitioners of rhythm, stillness, and living culture

01
Ignite Your Inner Fire
Feel the drum in your bones.
Through simple Taiko rhythms and breath, we wake up the body, release tension, and reconnect with our natural energy.
02
Return to Stillness
Morning zazen, silent meals, and mindful walking.
Not to escape the world — but to listen more deeply to it.

03
Forest, Water, and Prayer
Visit shrines, stand before waterfalls, soak in hot springs.
Simple rituals that cleanse the body and return us to the rhythm of the earth.
04
From Visitor to Participant
What begins as practice becomes participation.
Not as a visitor — but as part of the living tradition.
The festival happens only once a year.
Through local connections, we are able to join respectfully as participants.

What You Will Experience
Day 1 – Arrival & Orientation
Arrive in Nagano, to our retreat location in the countryside.
In the evening, we share a meal and gather as a group.
You meet the people you will spend this journey with, and we gently begin to settle into a different rhythm — away from the pace of everyday life.
Day 2 – Purification & Awakening
We begin with a visit to a local shrine, where you experience a traditional purification ritual.
Later, you are introduced to taiko. You learn simple rhythms and start to feel how sound, movement, and breath connect — not as performance, but as a physical experience in your own body.
Day 3 – Deepening the Practice
In the morning, we continue working with rhythm and movement, building a deeper connection through repetition and presence.
In the afternoon, we may take a boat journey along the Tenryu River, surrounded by nature.
The pace is steady — not rushed — allowing the experience to settle.
Day 4 – Matsuri - Festival Day (The Heart of the Retreat)
You join a real local Japanese festival. You don’t watch — you participate.
Carrying the mikoshi through the streets, moving together with the community, surrounded by sound, voices, and energy — this is something that cannot be staged or recreated.
Day 5 – Grounding & Integration
After the intensity of the festival, we slow down.
You spend time in nature, rest, and allow the experience to settle — not through effort, but through space.
There is time for reflection, quiet conversation, or simply being.
Day 6 – Closing & Departure
We gather once more before departure.
A simple closing, sharing what has shifted, and preparing to return — not as the same person who arrived, but with something experienced in the body, not just understood in the mind.
This is a sample plan. The exact schedule may change depending on the festival timing, weather, and the natural rhythm of the group.
